Amrit Sanchar is the initiation ceremony into the Khalsa, a group of devout Sikhs who have committed themselves to the highest ideals of the Sikh faith. The ceremony involves the administration of Amrit (sweetened water) by five baptized Sikhs, known as the Panj Pyare, to the new initiate. The initiate then takes the Sikh Oath of Allegiance, known as the Amrit Sanchar Pahul.
