Patth

Patth is the recitation of Bani from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

There are several types of “patth” or recitations of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, with some common ones shown below, and variations depending on the tradition or community.

What is Patth

A patth is a method of reciting Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It is a way of studying, understanding and contemplating the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The word “patth” comes from the Punjabi language, and it means “path” or “way.” A patth is a way to meditate on the divine word, to seek blessings and protection from the Guru, and to achieve spiritual enlightenment. Patths can be done individually, in small groups, or in larger congregations. Some patths are done continuously over a period of time, while others are done on a daily basis as part of a daily routine. Patths can also be done with or without musical accompaniment, and can include singing.

What is Gurbani Santhiya
